how can I recover my s3sgh t999 files if my recovery file on the boot menu is empty

I have been trying to root my phone and have done a lot of downloading etc . I have done totally cleaned it of all that and now my battery will charge very very little while phone on and and very little even when off I need help. Could you please tell me what I can do to totally refresh my files and settings.
