Open a command prompt.

Type:  chkidsk e: /f <enter>

If it replies that the drive is locked and do you want to check the next time it reboots, say Yes and reboot. You should run the same command on the c: drive. I think you can do both at the same time:

chkdsk c: e: /f <enter>

but you may have to do each separately.
