why doesn't my computer recognise my processor and RAM (not new just stopped working)

I have a 10 month old PC (windows 7) that has just stopped recognising my processor and RAM.  Took the PC back to the store who told me that all the parts are working but could not resolve my problem.  I am not IT savvy so can someone tell me why this is happening, if something is broken or what I need to do to fix it.
