I'm using a beats headset and an adapter to split the single cord into the green and pink connectors. I've disabled stereo mix, reinstalled drivers, I even completely reset my pc and reinstalled windows but nothing seems to work. On the audio settings the green bar only moves when there is audio coming from my pc in the headphones and doesn't detect any sound that isn't from the pc.

That's likely because the splitter is not designed for this. The bands are often not the same, where as the splitter has to assume one of the bands is the microphone. Just use a Bluetooth adapter (if your computer does not have Bluetooth) to connect to your computer. You'll get full audio features.
