how do I unlock the locked muted volume on my zte zmax

I try to turn volume up when playing games or watching videos to find out that I can't due to the overall volume has locked. Can't figure how to unlock it and end up having to restart my whole phone. This is on the ZTE ZMAX

Hold the down volume and power button at the same time for about 15 seconds, ignore the screenshot and just keep holding down, the phone will restart. This method will also help, when the ZMAX freezes.
