How do I get Google maps working. I get error message "stopped unexpectedly"

I have a rooted galaxy s5 running kit Kat 4.4.2 and google maps was working perfectly until the other day. Now when I click the icon to open the app I get an error message that says it has stopped unexpectedly. I havent deleted anything to stop it from working. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
