How can I stop unsolicited emails to my yahoo email account

I receive dozens of emails to my email address.  I have wriitten to the comanies and I spam them, but they keep coming. There have been times when I have over 1000 unread emails. I eventually get rid of them, but is there anything I can do to keep them from coming.  Thank you. Ann/Robert Kerwin, [email protected]

Don't bother writing the senders. That only confirms your address so they send you more.

Turn on Yahoo's SPAM filtering. When ever you get a spam email, click the box to select it and then choose the option at the top to mark it as SPAM. Their system will adapt the SPAM filter to the things you mark as SPAM. You can select multiple messages on the same screen and mark them all at once.
