what is the cause if your phone takes longer than usual to charge

I plugged my phone in to charge and came back a couple hours later thinking it would be done charging. But it seemed like the battery barely charged, not sure what the cause of this is. I am not sure if it is the port where you plug the charger into the phone or if it is the charger or what. I need help!

Either sonmething was running on the phone chewing up the power coming in or there is a problem with the charging port or charging cabler. Try a different cable.
