I did a factory reset on my boyfriends phone, is there anyway to get contacts back?

What provider do you have? Sometimes they automatically back up contacts online. Call the provider and see if they have an online backup.  Sometimes it is an extra app you have to download.  If you didn't have it you might be out of luck.
