How to access the less than sign on the HP Probook 4540s keyboard

I am unable to obtain the less than or greated than signs on an HP  probook 4540s. The sign is located on the same key as the point sign on the top left corner. However, every attempt to access it using either a combination of the Alt and Ctrl bottons have failed.
