I forgot my password of laptop,how it will unlock???

In laptop of a Compaq Windows starting password is forgotten,I tried many but its not unlocking, its not starting,asking for a password which I have forgotten. what should I do???? can you plzzzzzz help me?? I have to work on that which is very important for me.

If this is a BIOS password you will need to contact HP/Compaq support.

If it is a password for logging into Windows, then please search the net for "Windows Password Recovery". Lots of people have already written up various step by step instructions complete with pictures/screen captures to walk you through this better than I could.
