How can I get my Emerson HD/DVD combo television screen to stop flashing grey, red blue & green?

Emerson HD/DVD combo television model # LD195EMX screen is flashing grey, then to red, then green then Blue. I unplugged it and when plugged back in it skips over the stand by mode and goes in to power mode without me turning the television on. Then it flashes grey, green, red and blue again. I can not get the television to turn off without unplugging it. What is wrong with my television?
